Dandy

My first decal came in the mail yesterday. Well there are three 4ft decals in the set. Problem- still no place to put them.

In my mind, the 2nd bath was going to be "her bathroom" and not just the 2nd bath anymore. It was an afterthought to ask Dustin what he thought of the situation and he, not knowing my idea, stated it should remain a guest friendly bathroom. Hmm.

Now I have 4ft tall powder pink dandelions, seeds falling as if they've been lightly blown by a little girl, and no place to put them.

I have yet to purchase the ones for her "accent wall".

Peeves

What are your "Pet Peeves"?

Lately I notice that I get flustered when people pull out in front of me and I check the rear view mirror to find there isn't a car in sight. Why couldn't they wait?

Also being in the south I've caught several people saying "you welcome" instead of "you're welcome".

Chewing Loudly- ice, potato chips, finger nails (icky!)

Rockin'

Months ago, before we knew the gender, I saw this rocking horse in the background of a TV commercial. I took to the Internet searching for a clip of this commercial, mainly a still frame of the horse. Found it. Posted the picture above on Facebook and begged for help.

Several people took the challenge and the results were unsettling- it was manufactured years ago and is discontinued. This lead me to EBay, Craigslist and Google. Nothing.
Eventually I let it go and came to the understanding that it wasn't ours to have.

At our baby shower last weekend, hosted by my dear friend Erin, my heart was filled with joy when I opened the last present.
It was from all of our friends.

Even though I had lost hope in finding a perfect rocker for Avery, they didn't. This rocking lamb is more perfect than we had ever hoped for. It (we do need a name) has a place in Avery's room and I cant wait for our baby girl to have her first ride.

We have the best friends anyone could ask for!

In the Mix

It's week 30 and I need to make a decision about these stickers. Here are the ones we like so far. Remember, these are stock photos and the actual decals will be either mustard yellow, rose pink or cream adhered to a grey wall.

Which do you like? Which do you hate?

Stuck on Stickers

My latest obsession is wall decals. Yes, big stickers.

There are so many different kinds! These things replace the need for wallpaper, create an accent wall without having to paint and are easy to put up and take down.

We need something to go above the crib and I feel that everyone uses the baby's name so I've been browsing for decals to get the flare I think I need. There's a chance that I've bought a decal already with no home in mind. So I am taking a step back and organizing my thoughts better before swiping the card.

Once I've established a plan, I'll be sure to let you (and Dustin) know.

Partay

(You may or may not think this is funny but it cracked me up. Dustin, don't shoot me.)

I am working away, minding my own business and my stomach is just pounding in all directions. I sent Dustin the following text and it continued from here... Play Boom Boom Pow in the background and continue reading.

"Your daughter is having a party in my abdomen and we weren't invited"

"Party at my placenta"

"Bring your own amniotic fluid"

"No bladder stands, please"

"Stay off the cords"

Feel free to join in!!

Dinner Disaster

Despite the fact that there are now two cooking posts back-to-back, I really am not a fan of cooking.

Last night Dustin and I went to the grocery store because this is a random week that we think we need to cook instead of eating out each night. The trip to the store was a nightmare in itself. Maybe there needs to be a capacity limit on the amount of shoppers allowed into the store at one time. To sum up our trip, Dustin dropped a jar of spaghetti sauce which splattered on nearby shoppers.

By the time we get home, we are pretty darn hungry. I started dinner and Dustin unloaded the groceries. I was preparing fancy burgers from a recipe that I found online. The burgers included bbq sauce, shake-n-bake, onions, eggs, garlic and cheese. To put a healthy spin on things, I picked up ground turkey for the burgers. (I've never cooked with this before) It was a nasty concoction to mix so Dustin mixed then I made 5 patties.

The directions said you could fry or grill the burgers. We fried 3 but couldn't tell if they were done because 1. I dont know what color ground turkey turns to when cooked and 2. the bbq sauce and shake-n-bake distorted the coloring of the meat. So we popped these in the microwave and grilled the other 2. Same problem. Dustin stuck all 5 into the microwave just for good measure.

With great reluctance, we each took bites of a burger. I'm not sure if the fear of not knowing if the meat was done or the bland taste was the deciding factor, but we tossed the burgers. PB&J for Avery and me while Dustin made a Roast Beef sandwich.

Tonight I'm making a pizza, with turkey pepperoni.

Music

I know you're here. I see you.
Today is a day where I need you to respond to me, my virtual followers.

I love music, love it. I've never had an ipod and my CD collection is very slim and mostly consists of Christmas albums. I'm starting a playlist on my computer so I can enjoy music while I work. Before now I utilized AOL Radio or local stations, but then you have one genre all day long...

So, I need your help. Please help me think of songs for my playlist!!! Feel free to leave song title and artist, or one or the other works, in the comment section. I really appreciate the help!!

Looking Down

Watch the circle in her eye socket... she looks down

Phone Call

I have mixed reviews about the people standing on the street corner, often times with megaphones, waiving their Bible around. I can appreciate the need to share the Gospel, but I'm not sure that this method is the most effective way.

There have been men standing on the corner doing this exact thing every morning this week. This morning I was watching one of them when he reached into his pocket and pulled out his cell phone, his other arm remained in the air grasping his Bible.

I count help but think how this conversation went... "Hey. Can I call you back? I'm sharing the Gospel."

Naturally, I looked around at the others to see if they were on their phones too. They weren't.

Dinner

We are having friends over for dinner tonight. They hosted us a few weeks ago and served homemade lasagna. It was fantastic. I also scored some maternity clothes and we spent hours playing with their baby girl.

I cleaned the house and made cupcakes for their arrival. Ok, so the extra moist cupcakes with fudge icing may exist because I had a craving but I'm sharing with them! For dinner, KFC. There is no way I can compete with her delish dish from weeks past but I will put the chicken, mashed potatoes, beans and bread in pretty dishes.

Still, they are bringing their baby girl and we will play. This time I am handing over clothes to her- they keep heckling me so I am going to send them away for a while.

Depth Perception

My depth perception is off. I am bigger than I realize which is causing me to run our little girl into things. As of recent I have rolled her into my desk, opened and shut the door on her and bumped her into the stairs. (I forgot the railing stuck out)

I'll do better.

Teachers- Beware Before Continuing.

I'm going to share my opinion. You know what they say about opinions, they are like bottoms. Everyone has one and some stink. So if you dont like my opinion. Please continue to like me. I cant promise this is composed in a well thought out manner and I'm sure I left some positive aspects out.

3...
2....
1.....

Sometimes I get very frustrated with those in the teaching profession. It seems to me that some teachers (if I refer to teachers as a whole, as they, please know I know that this does not include all teachers) complain a lot. Complain about money, complain about work days, complain about parents.

We have the same woes in the other professions too. I dont believe many 24 year olds in the business world make the same salary as a 24 year old teacher. Some people are forced to work 1st, 2nd or 3rd shift, work double shifts and ridiculous amounts of overtime. The parents that teachers hate, they are our coworkers. We work with them 8 hours a day, 5 days a week. We know they are stressful.

The thing that probably frustrates me the most, and it could be that I'm jealous of the perks, but when all this complaining is going on summer break, fall break, Christmas break, snow days, spring break are overlooked. Oh yea, and Retirement.

So, when teachers enjoy a week of spring break, complain about going back to work just to have the summer off in 30 more days- it gets to me.

Teachers are essential to society. Because they are so essential to the development of our children and have such a huge impact on a daily basis, it would be nice to think that they enjoy this responsibility and the opportunity awarded to them.

Again, I apologize if this annoyed you in any way or ruffled your feathers. Please be nice if you are going to leave a comment. (Remember I'm Hormonal and May be Overreacting)

Relay for Life

Our company is participating, nationwide, in Relay for Life as this year's philanthropy. Our local walk is today.

We are walking to celebrate our former CFO. He passed away just days ago, Easter Eve, after a 6 month battle with cancer. He sent shock waves through our community, showing us how we should all live as Christians. Even in his last minutes, he was a living testament to God's love.

So today we walk for him and all of the others who have encountered this nasty disease. We'll be the ones in the colorful shirts!

Frumpy Fashion

DISCLAIMER- I am not a fashion expert nor do I claim to be.

Do you have "What to Wear Days"? I do. I have even more now except they are "What Can I Wear Days". I think when you look good you feel good.

Dont get me wrong, I do love to throw on comfy clothes and lounge but for the most part I try to put myself together. A good day can go bad if I am uncomfortable in my appearance. I dont think I'm vain, maybe you think so but I think it's a sense of self respect. I especially get frazzled if I dont think my man is digging my attire. (Babe, this is why I try on so many things for your approval. I can tell when you sincerely like the outfit and when you just say yes because the game is on.)

Anyway, this ramble was triggered by a wardrobe malfunction today. If its a dreary day or if things aren't going your way, try tossing on an outfit that makes you smile. Let me know if your frown turns upside down.

We're Back!

I hope you had a lovely Easter! Here are some pictures to recap our trip...
